The Mundingburra State School Library is staffed by a full time teacher-librarian. Our library stocks reading books, both fiction and non-fiction, education games as well as a range of teaching resources.
Children are encouraged to borrow books from the school library but are responsible for returning them in good condition. It is important that each child have a library bag to assist with protecting our valuable resources.
Children may borrow the following books.
• Prep students and Year 1 One item
• Years 2 to 5 Two items
• Years 6 Three items
Extensions on loans are permissible after books have been sighted.
Book Club
Scholastic Book club operates once in Terms 1, 2 and 4 and gives families opportunities to purchase books. During Term 3 the Library holds a Book Fair.
During Book Club bonus points are accumulated which allow us to acquire resources for our library at no cost to the school. Catalogues will be distributed to each class with notice in the school newsletter. Ordering details are in the catalogue and will be published in the school’s newsletter. Orders generally take 2-3 weeks after the closing date.
Book Fair
Book Fair is organised in Term 3 to coincide with Book Week celebrations. Classes are invited to view the Book Fair at designated times during the week. Parents and children are welcome to visit Book Fair during advertised opening times. Books may be taken immediately upon purchase, subject to availability. An item may be ordered if it is sold out. The library receives commission in books, for hosting the Book Fair.
Other Library Events
Throughout the year there are a number activities in which the school participates in. These include the National Simultaneous Story Time, Premier’s Reading Challenge, the NQ Readers’ Cup and of course we have an annual Book Character Parade which coincides with Book Week.
