Reef Guardian Program
Mundingburra State School is proud to be a member of the Reef Guardian Program.
A key objective of the Reef Guardian Schools program is to create awareness, understanding and appreciation for the Reef and its connected ecosystems.
At Mundingburra State School, we run this program in conjunction with Science Mates and MOSHC. Our aim is to empower our students and their families to take an active role in protecting our environment and encourage them to make a positive difference.
This includes environmental and sustainability projects within their classrooms, their school grounds and local areas such as native habitat revegetation, cleaning up beaches and recycling. Our activities include (but are not limited) to the following:
Science Mates (Reef HQ sleepovers)
School litter clean ups, Waste audits
Solar panels (H Block)
Bike riding or walking to school programme
Reducing waste & water
Reusing waste, Recycling waste,
Encouraging Package-free lunches
Vegetable garden/ Composting food scraps
