Mundingburra State School provides quality education for students from Prep to Year 6. We have professional staff who work actively toward the school vision of being a high performing school where every student matters every day and every child can achieve and be successful. Effective curriculum delivery at Mundingburra is underpinned by research based learning and explicit instruction.
There are 8 Australian Curriculum learning areas taught English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Technologies – Design and Digital, The Arts – Music, Drama, Dance, Media and Visual Arts, Health and Physical Education and a French LOTE program for Years 5 and 6. Students complete summative assessments in all of these areas and their work samples are moderated across cohorts to ensure consistency of expectations. In each of these subject areas students are working towards a National Achievement Standard by the end of each year as published on the Australian Curriculum website. It describes what young Australians should learn as they progress through schooling. It sets out essential knowledge, understanding, skills and capabilities and provides a national standard for student achievement in these core learning areas.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) develops the Australian Curriculum with input from leading educators in each state. This includes participation and feedback from each schooling sector in Queensland, coordinated by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority. A range of materials support Queensland teachers to implement the Australian Curriculum, including Curriculum into the Classroom (C2C). C2C provides a comprehensive set of curriculum and assessment planning materials which our staff adopt and adapt to suit our context. Mundingburra State School’s Curriculum Plan is updated annually to reflect the current direction of our school priorities, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting. These are developed by the Head of Curriculum in collaboration with teaching staff. The P-12 curriculum, assessment and reporting framework specifies the current requirements for Queensland state schools in delivering the curriculum.
Mundingburra State School is committed to developing teacher practices through professional development focusing on aspects of curriculum implementation, pedagogy and assessment and the incorporation of a proactive approach to planning and teaching.
